Promoting Health in Our Community

Since 1947, Valley Medical Center has made it our mission to improve and sustain the overall health of our community. Primary and urgent care clinics have greatly improved access to care in our hospital district, but those alone aren't enough. Economic conditions and health disparities in South King County continue to underscore the importance of our outreach efforts. In addition to the partnerships below, Valley has been an active partner in health reform, assisting our community with enrollment in the health exchange and expanded Medicaid programs. We are proud that many of our most vulnerable community members have health insurance for the first time and are able to access needed services. We know the health and well-being of our district residents depends on us and we are here to serve.

Valley Medical Center supports many community organizations through outreach events and reciprocal partnerships which provide direct health and wellness benefits to our hospital district. Some of our partners include:

Addressing Community Health Needs

As the oldest and largest public district hospital in the State of Washington, Valley serves more than 600,000 residents in South King County. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act through the IRS section 501(r)(3) regulations direct nonprofit hospitals to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment and develop an Implementation Strategy every three years. The purpose of this Community Health Needs Assessment is to identify and prioritize significant health needs of the communities served by Valley to help guide the hospital’s community benefit and outreach activities.
